What We Treat.
Core Recovery’s intensive outpatient program treats a broad range of mental health issues, including depression, trauma, anxiety, grief, and mood disorders like obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
It is not uncommon for individuals to struggle with one or more mental health challenge at once. It is also not uncommon for mental health struggles to “co-occur” alongside substance abuse or addiction issues. Core Recovery’s IOP program employs a trauma-informed approach that treats the whole person, focusing on the presenting issues and any co-occurring disorders alike.
What is a Mental Health IOP Program?
The intensive outpatient program is an integrated treatment program for one or more mental health conditions. It offers more care per week than traditional therapy, but less care per week than partial hospitalization programming, or residential/inpatient programming.
The following patients are likely to benefit from an IOP mental health program:
- Arizonans who see a therapist once or twice per week, but who could benefit from more intensive care for a period of time.
- Arizonans who have spent time in a residential facility, inpatient program, or partial hospitalization program, and are looking to progressively reduce the amount of care they are receiving (often known as “stepping down” their care).
The Program Schedule table below presents a breakdown of intensive outpatient programming versus other types of mental health treatment.

IOP mental health programming is available Monday through Friday. Program schedules are tailored so that adults can attend the IOP program either in mornings or evenings without interfering with their work schedules. The adolescent program is after school hours.
